Journal Review CME

Manuscript Review CME Activity Mission

CME Purpose:  To increase the competence of manuscript reviewers for the three ATS peer-reviewed journals, AJRCCM, AJRCMB, and PATS.

Content Areas: The content of the ATS manuscript reviewer CME program includes principles of manuscript review and emerging basic science and medical research in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep medicine as a consequence of the assigned manuscript review activity.

Target Audience of Manuscript Review Learners:  The target audience consists of researchers, clinicians, and other health professionals practicing in Pulmonary, Critical Care, or Sleep Medicine who possess expertise in the content areas and wish to improve by means of service as an expert reviewer.

Measured Outcomes: Results are measured with self report and objective observation.

CME Activity Learning Objectives

  • Knowing how to be a better reviewer including the ability to apply the desirable attributes of a proper review contained in the ICMJE Guidelines.
  • Knowing how to pursue research based on the latest state of the art in the learner’s field
  • Knowing how to care for patients based on the latest state of the art in the learner’s field
  • Able to pass-on acquired competence through teaching.
